Meghalaya



The Meghalaya state name means “the abode of cloud” in Sanskrit. The Meghalaya state is the major state in North –East India. In Meghalaya state the important crops are rice, pineapple, potatoes, maize etc.Meghalaya state the climate is generally mild.
 Birds in Meghalaya state include peacocks, pigeons, mynas and parrot etc. The Meghalaya state has no small-scale industries. It includes the manufacture of cement, plywood and foodstuffs. 30% land in Meghalaya in under forest cover.
The Meghalaya state has currently 7 districts. These are-East garo hills, East khasi hills, Jaintia hills, West khasi hills. The literacy rate of Meghalaya is 63.31%.
